Over time, their torch-lit search for spirits evolved into the Lantern Festival, now celebrated in temples and parks with colorful lanterns. Traditionally, Chinese parents prepared lanterns for their children to carry on the school day of the new year to symbolize the hope that the children would have bright futures. In modern Taiwan, small children carrying lanterns roam the streets on the evening of the festival. March 4th, 2007 (the 15th day of the first full moon of the new lunar year), China National Song & Dance Ensemble will give us a wonderful performance! Accompanied by Folk Music Troupe China National Song & Dance Ensemble

Tibetan dZi Beads

Few beads are surrounded by as much myth and mystery as the dZi bead (say ZEE). The etched agates are found in Tibet, Bhutan, Ladakh, and Nepal, and are believed to be about two thousand years old. Many legends accompany the beads- that they were not made by man but created by the gods, that they bring luck and ward off evil, that they protect the wearer from physical harm by taking the abuse upon themselves, and that the bead itself will choose its' owner and will not stay with an unlucky person. (To which we can only add, certainly a person is unlucky who loses a dZi at today's prices). All our DZI beads come from India or Nepal, We do not sell beads from China. They are made of a variety of materials, bone, resin or glass depending on the style of bead. But beware we have seen many beads of this quality sold recently as 'ancient' . Tibetan dZi Beads

Secret of Attraction

Chinese Philosophy of Beauty

Music

Music refers to the qin (a kind of seven-stringed plucked instrument, similar to a zither) that has a more than 3,000 year history. It was required that every scholar learn the instrument.

Chess

Chess refers to encirclement chess. The ancient women had no chance to do the same work as men. So they gathered and played chess to relax.

Calligraphy and Literature

Writing calligraphy and poems was not the privilege of men. Women learned how to read, write and calligraphy no matter what their family background. They read to improve themselves, wrote poems to record their feelings and life, and did calligraphy for enjoyment.

Painting

There were many women who had a talent for painting in ancient times, though their skill was often overlooked in the male-dominated society of that time. The theme of their paintings usually related to flowers, little pets and beautiful women.

Needlework

Needlework is the symbol of diligent women and reflects female emotion and intelligence. It is also the standard of being a good wife.

It is a custom that has lasted to the present time. Women in the old days often made needlework for their lovers, while modern girls like to make gifts such as scarfs and cross-stitch embroidery.

Secret of Attraction

Feminine beauty has been celebrated over the centuries in China and the perception is ever-evolving, but an enduring beauty standard is as follows: a rosy plump oval face, new-moon-shaped eyebrows, delicate and soft limbs and fingers, and fine porcelain skin. More than skin deep, a Chinese beauty should also have good manners, temperament, tastes, and style of conversation.

Perfect Facial Features

Face

It is long held in Chinese ancient painting theory that an oval face makes for the best proportioned features.

According to this theory, the face can be transversely divided into trisections, or "Three Stops" - from the hairline to the eyebrow, from the eyebrow to the bottom of the nose, and from the bottom of the nose to the bottom of the chin. Vertically, the face can be divided into quinti-sections or "Five Eyes"- the distance between two eyes shall be the length of one eye, and the vertical distance between the outer canthus and the external opening of the ear shall be also the length of one eye. In addition, sweet dimples in the cheeks, or Jiuwo, literally a pit of wines in Chinese, are definitely a plus for female charm.

Eyebrows

Chinese people believe that the eyes and eyebrows of a woman can speak her mind.Shapes of eyebrows varied in different dynasties. In the Qin Dynasty (221-207 B.C.), long, bushy and curved eyebrows were in vogue while the following Han Dynasty adored "八" shaped eyebrows. Tang women loved to trim their eyebrows into the shape of the half moon or arched willow leaves. Thin, long and slightly curved eyebrows have been the major trend since the mid-14th century.

Eyes

Chinese poets often compare beautiful women to peach blossoms in spring. The eyes are long and slightly upcurved at the corners. Under the eyelashes is a pair of misty black pupils.

Lips

Chinese people adore a small, rosy, glossy, and gently up-curved mouth, the so-called "Cherry-like-little Mouth."

bamboo paintings, chinese decorative chair

bamboo paintings/when painting bamboo
how to draw bamboo/how to draw lotus
chinese decorative chair /how to draw a chinese dragon
oriental b/chinese traditional marriage painting
auspicious asian symbols/tibetan draws and paintings
chinese bamboo, orchids/ how to draw buddha
how to draw orchids/chinese weddings what is meanings
traditional asian flower paintings
how to draw sitting buddha /symbolism of bamboo beads
chinese water symbol drawing/drawings of lotus blossoms
decorative chinese/chinese bamboo white black red
buddhist orname/chinese flowers calligraphy
chinese decorative art/pictures of bamboo trees
wedding bamboo/chinese decorative flower
chinese art bamboo/chinese painting with paper pieced together
chinese bamboo art/silk material with orchid pattern
clay sculpture art flowers
paintings bamboo/orchid and bamboo centerpieces
asian symbol paintings/bamboo drawings
unique asian bamboo bouquets
wholesale jade sculpture/painting bamboo
chinese spring blouse/knot blouse pattern
how to draw the buddhist symbol
bamboo sacred meaning for chinese
chinese painting and patterns
japanese bamboo drawing/make orchid from paper
japanese bamboo flower painting
how to draw patterns and calligraphy
bambu drawing/inscriptions on chinese paintings
an oriental orchid art/how to draw bridal dresses on paper
Ming Dynasty Style Furniture

Ming Dynasty Style Furniture

Ming Dynasty desk and chairs displayed in the Summer Palace

With a time-honored history, the handicraft of furniture formed its unique characteristics in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Furniture of the Ming Dynasty Style refers to the ones from the Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). An important feature of Ming Dynasty furniture is that the items are beautifully shaped. The furniture is simple and conveys a sense of stability. The size and proportion of the different parts adhere to aesthetic principles but take practical use into consideration. It combines aesthetics, mechanics and practical use into one integral whole.

Pear wood dressing table of the Ming Dynasty

Ming Dynasty furniture was made with consummate skill. It combined round and square, wide and narrow, thick and thin patterns and lines in sharp contrast and thus formed the unique structure of Ming Dynasty furniture. All parts of the furniture were pieced together without visible joins. The outline is natura1 and fluid. The surface was polished with wax to make it look bright, smooth and clean and to reveal its natural beauty.

The Ming Dynasty Style Furniture is also well known for its exquisite shapes. The S-shaped chair back is unique in appearance, at the same time fit to the physiological nature of humans. The different combinations of lines and planes at various proportions can produce different artistic flavor.

The decorations are mainly engraved lines and small areas of circular carving and embossment. There may, however, also be wood, ivory and diamond inlays in the patterns of landscapes, flowers and birds or small bronze and silver ornamentation. The refined ornamentation in small areas forms a sharp contrast with the furniture's overall clean and simple appearance. The line of the edges of the piece is shaped in different lengths and widths depending on the grain of the timber to create a true, harmonious effect, so that the piece looks natural and balanced. Generally, carvings are only conducted in a small area, which can attract more attention to its delicate decoration.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

bamboo drawing/selling original ming dynasty artwork
traditional chinese wedding flowers/orchid pattern paper
chinese amulet symbols/chinese bamboo
bamboo draws/oriental artworks/ oriental orchids wedding
bamboo paper lampshades/mens rings chinese inscription
chinese umbrella paint/chinese wedding dress
pendant for miracle in chinese symbol
sari blouse pattern/how to draw a flower in calligraphy
small orchid centerpieces/oriental dress patterns
bamboo orchid/simple chinese painting
drawings of bamboo /bamboo carving
ming costume pattern/zhang xihuang bamboo
chinese wedding dresses/drawings of bonsai trees
how to draw bamboo/lotus drawing chinese
chinese bamboo ink painting history
how to draw chinese peonies/chinese bamboo tree
springtime designs to draw/wedding dresses to draw
traditional chinese jewellery/chinese dragon patterns
bamboo calligraphy/dzi bead symbols
sari blouse pattern pictures only
oriental weddingdress/bead knot silk
orchid symbolism/orchid china pattern
how to draw an orchid/japanese bamboo painting
chinese bamboo paintings/chinese buddha painting
chinese jade jewlery/asian bamboo paintings
virtues jewlery/oriental prom/how to draw orchids
chinese paintings flowers/drawing calligraphy in china
chinese symbol for prayer/ asian symbols flowers lotus
Tibetan Thangka popular in overseas market

Tenga is a staffer of Xianhu Thangka Circles, the largest traditional Thangka base in Tibet. The 3-m-width and 3-m-length Thangka has been painted for 9 months and will be completed 2 months later. It is booked by an Japanese businessman at a price of 160,000 yuan (about 20,000 US dollars).

Traditional Thangka is popular in overseas markets and Xianhu Thangka Circles sells over 50 pieces of Thangka with a total value of 2 million yuan (0.25 million US dollars) to more than 10 countries including France, America and India. A piece of Thangka selling to Singapore with a width of 1.5 meter and a height of 1.9 meter with a price of 180,000 yuan (about 22,500 US dollars) makes a record for the highest selling price for common Thangka in Tibet.

Only a few pieces of bamboo carving works have been handed down from the early stage, and mostly are from the Ming and Qing dynasties with primitive styles, plump patterns all over the utensil body, deep cut craftwork in deep embossment or openwork which was expressed by powerful lines and distinguished outline. The works was dominated by brush pot and incense pot. The style from the Ming Dynasty still remained in the works in the early Qing Dynasty and was expressed in various techniques including light carving, light embossment, Liuqing and alto-relievo etc. which were used simultaneously; types were increased by arm-rest, bamboo shoot character, animal and mountain rocks besides brush pot and incense pot. All works was delicate and regular in the craftwork and elegant，artistic in patterns, like the Liuqing pavilions with landscape pattern carved by Zhang Xihuang and small Chinese characters in cursive hand handwriting and regular script carved by Deng Wei were the representatives with distinguished individual style.

The pattern on bamboo carving in the late Qing Dynasty was rather dull and was mostly lightly cut in intaglio. Small photo copy, sealed inscriptions and poems in closely ranged small Chinese characters were popular, and sculptors were particularly good at reproducing patterns from the Chinese calligraphy and painting. The frequent utensils were fan bone and arm-rest etc., and there were also large size bamboo shoot carving works with subjects as A group immortals' celebrating birthday, and Three sheep's in peace etc. and in rough craftwork.

Bamboo carving in the Ming Dynasty was mostly attached with the author's name or seal which is an important proof to distinguish. Therefore, fake seals esp. those famous expert's seals are rather frequent. Generally speaking, the genuine works is in natural and smooth style, elegant and strong, rigid and flexible and is distinguished with the author's own style. While fake works is poor and dull in the pattern, weak in carving and adverse to the original style of the author, though some copied works is rather similar in the appearance, it is lack of nimbus.

The luster on bamboo carving works also counts in the identification. The older the works is, the darker the luster will be, in fuscotestaceous, dark brown and grey brown etc, but an enamel color is the best for the works. With the message on the works for ages, the surface is clear and smooth, while the newly made works has lighter luster or in light yellow etc. Fakers usually dye the newly made works in order to get same luster as the ancient works. But it is easy to judge that the copied works is neither deep in the color nor natural.

how to draw bamboo
bamboo painting
orchid seal symbol
chinese orchid flowers
tibetan lotus
bamboo art prints
chinese symbol for spring
chinese bamboo painting
asian infused wedding dress styles
chinese traditional flowers
chinese spring symbol
ancient chinese jewellery
bamboo painting
chinese bamboo flower painting
chinese painting orchid
jewelry draw
simple orchid drawing
bamboo drawings
bamboo drawing
drawing a bonsai tree
how to draw calligraphy
bamboo culture symbol
chinese bamboo photos
bamboo tees wholesale
asian symbols with bamboo
bamboo bouquet for w
orchid symbol
orchid art painting
miao jewelry
draw chinese dragons
asian draw tree
traditional paintings of oriental ladies
how to draw bamboo calligraphy art
chinese bamboo paper lampshades
bamboo pictures how to draw
om pendents
chinese paintings auspicious pine bamboo plum
chinese decorative art
bamboo orchid brushes
bamboo symbol
orchid chinese fertility
bamboo prints or paintings
chinese painting
oriental lotus drawing
chinese arts bamboo
chinese bamboo calligraphy

Painted Sculpture of Clay Figurine Zhang

Zhang Changlin (1826-1906), another name as Mingshan, followed his father and engaged in making clay figurine when he was young and achieved an excellent skill. If you want info on traditional Chinese wedding flowers and their meanings, look no further. Chinese Wedding Flowers

If you want to infuse your wedding ceremony with the Asian beauty of Chinese flowers, concentrate on:

The meaning of red in Chinese weddings is deep and powerful. Red is the symbol of ultimate joy in Chinese culture, and adding red roses or other red flowers will boost the Chinese decorative look popular in traditional weddings.
In contrast to the Western wedding, white flowers are the symbol of death and used only for funerals.
Many flowers used in Chinese culture are common here in the States and readily available.

Peony
A symbol of spring and renewed life, peonies come in many colors and varieties. They are easy to obtain and are beautiful additions to centerpieces, as well as pew and chair decorations.

Orchid
This luxuriant, long-petalled flower is exotic and fragrant, and is an excellent choice for bouquets as well as corsages for mothers. The orchid is the Chinese symbol of love and fertility, a perfect token for weddings.

Lotus
This flower represents four virtues in the Buddhist religion as well as being the cornerstone of Asian flower culture. Sutras say the closed inner petals and open ring of outer petals of the lotus blossom represent four virtues: scent, purity, softness, and lovliness. Delicate and spiritual, use this flower floating in glass bowls of water or as a shining addition to your bouquet.

Narcissus
Other common names of this joyful flower are daffodil and jonquil. These symbols of spring represent change and end of hibernation, and are perfect for spring weddings. Mix with other spring flowers for a beautiful springtime bouquet, or planted in pots or simple vases as centerpieces.

chinese traditional wedding dress

oriental prom dress
prom dresses 2005
silk wedding dresses
chinese wedding dresses
chinese wedding dress
chinese traditional wedding dress
wedding dress patterns
lace wedding dresses
vera wang wedding dress
